Dell Vostro 3400 Core I5 4GB/1TB/14in Laptop
KSh 72,000
Description
The Dell Vostro 3400 Core i5 is the same 14-inch business chassis as the Core i3 model with a considerably stronger processor inside. The 11th-generation Core i5-1135G7 is a four-core, eight-thread chip with Intel Iris Xe graphics — the practical difference from the i3 is that it keeps its composure when you have several applications open at once, and it handles video calls, large spreadsheets and light photo work without labouring.
What it works with
Windows with the full range of office and accounting software, plus lighter creative work that the i3 model would struggle with.
Same complete port set as the rest of the Vostro 3400 line:
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1 x USB 2.0
- 1 x HDMI 1.4 — monitor, TV or projector
- 1 x Ethernet RJ-45
- 3-in-1 SD media card reader
- Headset jack
- Wedge-shaped lock slot

Who this is for
Managers, accountants and anyone whose day involves several programs open simultaneously. This is the machine to buy if you found the i3 model tempting but suspect you will outgrow it.
One thing worth knowing that most sellers will not tell you: Intel's Iris Xe graphics borrows system memory to work, and it performs meaningfully better with two memory sticks than with one. This build ships with 4GB, which means a single stick. Adding a second matching stick is usually the cheapest and largest performance improvement available on this machine — better value than any other upgrade at the price. Getting the most from this laptop
Add RAM if your budget stretches — see above; it matters more on this model than on the i3. Use the Ethernet port at your desk for speed and stability. Keep the vents on the underside clear; the i5 runs warmer than the i3 under load, and a laptop used on a bed or sofa will throttle itself to protect the processor. Set Windows to Balanced rather than Power Saver when you are plugged in, or you will not see what you paid for.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the real difference from the Core i3 version? Four cores instead of two, and better integrated graphics. It matters when you multitask; it matters little if you only use one program at a time.
- Can I add more RAM? Usually yes, and on this model it makes a real difference. We will check the unit for you.
- Is the screen Full HD? Both panels are used in this range — we will confirm on the specific unit.
- Does it have a wired network port? Yes, a full Ethernet RJ-45 port.
- Do you deliver outside Nairobi? Yes — Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Mombasa and countrywide.
