HP 952 Black Ink Cartridge

The HP 952 Black Ink Cartridge is the standard-capacity black ink for HP's OfficeJet Pro 7700 and 8200 to 8700 series all-in-ones. It uses pigment-based ink for sharp, water-resistant black text on plain paper, which is what documents that get signed, scanned and filed need. Rated at approximately 1,000 pages.

Genuine or compatible?

HP sells the same physical cartridge under different numbers depending on the region it was packaged for. HP 952 is the North American number, HP 953 is the European and African number, and HP 955 is the Asia-Pacific number. They fit the same printers. What matters when you buy is that the number printed on the box matches the number your printer asks for, because a mismatched region code can trigger a cartridge-not-recognised message on some firmware versions. Bring us your printer model or send a photo of the empty cartridge and we will supply the version your machine expects. Compatible alternatives, including our own Royal house brand, are also available at a lower price point.

Why buy from Trinatech

• Region confusion is exactly the sort of thing that turns an online order into a returned parcel.
• At our counter at The One Mall on River Road you can check the box against your old cartridge before paying.
• We hold stock rather than ordering it in, we deliver the same day across Nairobi and countrywide by courier, and we quote bulk rates for schools, cyber cafés and corporate accounts.
• Call or WhatsApp 0729 589 346.

Getting the most from this cartridge

• Install it as soon as you open the foil pouch.
• Handle it by the plastic body only, keeping fingers off the copper contacts and the ink outlet.
• If print quality drops off, run the printer's own printhead cleaning routine before replacing anything, since on this series the printhead is separate from the cartridge and is usually the real culprit.
• Printing a little every week keeps the ink channels from drying out during quiet periods.

Frequently asked questions

• Is HP 952 the same as HP 953? Physically yes, and they fit the same printers, but the box numbers differ by region and some firmware is fussy about it.
• What is the yield of the XL version? HP 952XL black is rated at about 2,000 pages against 1,000 for this standard cartridge.
• Will my printer work with only black installed? No. All four cartridges must be present for the printer to run any job.
• Does this fit the OfficeJet Pro 9010 or 9020? No, those use HP 963 or HP 962.
• Can you deliver upcountry? Yes, we ship countrywide by courier.
