HP 950 Black Ink Original Cartridge (CN049AE)

The HP 950 Black Original Ink Cartridge (CN049AE) is the standard-capacity black ink built for HP's OfficeJet Pro 8100 and 8600 business machines. It carries HP's pigment-based ink, which dries on contact and resists water and smudging, so invoices and delivery notes still read cleanly after being handled and filed. Rated at roughly 1,000 pages.

Genuine or compatible?

This listing is the Original HP cartridge. It carries HP's own chip, so the printer reports ink levels accurately and no firmware warning appears. Trinatech also stocks compatible alternatives for this printer family, including cartridges under our own Royal house brand. Royal is a separate product line manufactured to work in the same machine, not a rebadged HP cartridge, and it is priced and warranted on its own terms. Tell us which you want and we will quote both so you can compare cost per page honestly.

Why buy from Trinatech

• We are a walk-in shop at The One Mall on River Road in Nairobi CBD, not a drop-shipper.
• Stock is on the shelf, you can inspect the box and the security seal before you pay, and we deliver the same day across Nairobi and countrywide by courier.
• Schools, cyber cafés, SACCOs and corporate offices buy from us in bulk at negotiated rates.
• Order on WhatsApp or call 0729 589 346 with your printer model and we will confirm the correct cartridge before you send money.

Getting the most from this cartridge

• Leave the cartridge sealed until the moment you install it, because pigment ink dries fast once exposed to air.
• Keep fingers off the copper contacts and the ink port.
• If the printer sits idle, print a page of black text weekly to keep the printhead clear, and run the cleaning cycle before assuming a cartridge is faulty.
• Store spares upright, cool and out of direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions

• Does this fit the OfficeJet Pro 8710 or 8720? No. Those newer machines use HP 953, 955 or 952 depending on region, and the cartridge shape and chip are different.
• What is the difference between HP 950 and HP 950XL? Same printers, more ink. The 950XL is rated at about 2,300 pages against 1,000 for this standard cartridge.
• Can I use this alone if the colour cartridges are empty? No. OfficeJet Pro machines require all four cartridges installed to print at all, including for black-only jobs.
• Do you deliver outside Nairobi? Yes, countrywide by courier, with payment on order confirmation.
• Is there a warranty? Yes, genuine HP cartridges carry HP's manufacturer warranty against defects.
