HP 920 Black Original Ink Cartridge

The HP 920 black ink cartridge is the genuine Original HP replacement, part number CD971AE, for the HP OfficeJet 6000 and 6500 generation of business all-in-ones. These machines were bought in volume by Kenyan offices for their speed and duplex printing, and many are still in service. Pigment black ink keeps invoices and contracts sharp under handling.

This is an older business machine, and refilled 920 cartridges are common on the market. Getting the most from this cartridge

• Fit it as soon as the foil is open and remove only the tape covering the ink outlet.
• The 920 series uses a separate printhead built into the printer rather than into the cartridge, so print quality faults are often a printhead cleaning job rather than a cartridge fault. Run the printer's clean cycle before replacing anything else.
• 420 pages assumes 5% coverage. Dense reports and forms with heavy black areas will come in lower.
• If the machine sits idle for long stretches, print a page weekly. A dried printhead on this design is expensive to put right.

• Do I need the colour cartridges too? These printers use separate cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, and will usually stop if any bay is empty.
