Genuine or compatible?
Genuine, Original HP in the sealed box. Not a refill and not our Royal house brand, which is always sold under the Royal name. This generation checks the cartridge chip in firmware, so non-genuine cartridges on the M12 and M26 are frequently rejected outright rather than simply printing poorly. On a machine this small there is no second printer to fall back on, which is worth weighing against the saving.

Getting the most from this cartridge
- Rock the cartridge gently side to side before fitting and remove the sealing strip completely.
- At 1,000 pages this is the smallest laser cartridge in our range. If you print daily rather than occasionally, work out your cost per page before settling on this machine as your main printer.
- When pages start to fade, take the cartridge out and rock it again. That commonly buys another thirty or forty pages.
- Store spares flat and boxed, away from heat and damp. Toner clumps in humidity and clumped toner streaks.

- Is there a higher-yield version? No. HP sells the 79A as a standard-capacity cartridge only for this range.
- Do I need a separate drum? No. The drum is built into the cartridge, so both are replaced together.
- How fast is delivery? Same day within Nairobi, next working day to most towns.

- Why does such a small cartridge cost this much? The M12 and M26 were sold cheaply and the running cost sits in the toner. If you print steadily, a larger machine like the M404 works out cheaper per page over a year, and we are happy to work that out with you.
