The HP 727 matte black ink cartridge (B3P22A) is the genuine Original HP 130ml black cartridge for the HP DesignJet T920 and T2500 generation of large-format plotters. These are high-volume production machines used for technical drawings, architectural plans, GIS output and presentations. This cartridge fits the same machines as the HP 727 130ml colour range.

HP 727 also comes in a 300ml matte black (C1Q12A) — if you are running this plotter at production volume, the 300ml usually costs less per ml. Getting the most from this cartridge
- Install with the printer powered on; the chip needs to register at startup — do not install with the power off.
- Store cartridges upright at room temperature; storing on their side can affect the ink-level reading on the chip.
- Run a nozzle check after installing any new cartridge, especially if the plotter has been idle.
- These are volume-rated cartridges — yield depends on coverage area and media type, not a standard page count.

- Is there a larger version? Yes — HP 727 matte black is also available in 300ml (C1Q12A). If you print at high volume, the 300ml costs less per ml.
- Do I need colour cartridges too? Yes — the T920/T2500 series uses six ink types: matte black, photo black, cyan, magenta, yellow and grey.
