• Rock the cartridge gently before installing and handle it by the ends so the drum stays clean.
• Store spares boxed and upright, away from heat and direct sunlight. Light degrades the drum coating on a colour laser cartridge.
• Buy singly rather than as a set. On a four-cartridge machine that is where the running cost advantage comes from, and yellow in particular often has months left when the cyan runs dry.
• 2,300 pages assumes 5% coverage of yellow specifically. Client documents with colour headers and shaded tables will use noticeably more.
