Description
The HP 36A black toner cartridge is the genuine Original HP replacement, part number CB436A, for the HP LaserJet P1505 and the M1120 and M1522 all-in-ones. These were workhorse small-office machines and a good number are still printing daily in Kenyan businesses. At 2,000 pages the cartridge holds a third more than the 35A, which suits the higher duty these machines were built for.

Genuine or compatible?
Genuine, Original HP in the sealed box. Not a refill and not our Royal house brand, which we always sell as Royal. Note the same caution as on the 35A: these two cartridges look alike and are constantly confused, but they fit different printers and cannot be swapped. The 36A is for the P1505, M1120 and M1522; the 35A is for the P1005 and P1006. Check the number on the cartridge in your machine, or send us the printer model and we will match it.

Getting the most from this cartridge
- Rock the cartridge gently side to side before fitting and pull the sealing strip out fully.
- On the M1522 all-in-one the cartridge also feeds the copier and fax, so it runs down faster than people expect. Keeping a spare avoids losing the whole machine.
- Store spares flat and boxed, away from heat and damp. Toner clumps in humidity and clumped toner streaks.
- 2,000 pages assumes 5% coverage. Documents with heavy black areas will come in lower.

- Do I need a separate drum? No. The drum is part of the cartridge, so both are replaced together.
