The HP 35A black toner cartridge is the genuine Original HP replacement, part number CB435A, for the HP LaserJet P1005 and P1006. These small mono lasers were sold in large numbers to home offices, small shops and schools, and the cartridge is the only part that ever needs buying. Laser output does not run or fade the way inkjet can, which matters for receipts and records kept in a humid office.

Genuine or compatible?
Genuine, Original HP, sealed box. Not a refill and not our Royal house brand, which is always sold as Royal. A word of caution on this one: the 35A and 36A look alike and get mixed up constantly, but they are not interchangeable and each only works in its own printers. The 35A is for the P1005 and P1006; the 36A is for the P1505 and the M1120 and M1522 all-in-ones. Read the number on the cartridge already in your machine before ordering.

Getting the most from this cartridge
- Rock the cartridge gently side to side at least six times before fitting so the toner spreads evenly.
- Remove the sealing strip completely before the cartridge goes in, and pull it straight rather than at an angle.
- When pages start to fade, take it out and rock it again. On a small cartridge like this that reliably buys another fifty pages or so.
- 1,500 pages assumes 5% coverage. Forms, receipts and anything with a dark header will fall short.

- Is there a higher-yield version? No. HP sells the 35A as a standard-capacity cartridge only for this range.
- Do I need a separate drum? No. The drum is built into the cartridge, so both are replaced together.
