The HP 201A magenta toner cartridge is the genuine Original HP replacement, part number CF403A, for the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252 and MFP M277 series. It is one of three colour cartridges in these machines and is replaced individually, so you buy only the colour that has actually run out rather than a whole set.

Getting the most from this cartridge

• Rock the cartridge gently before installing and handle it by the ends so the drum stays clean.
• Store spares boxed and upright, away from heat and direct sunlight. Light degrades the drum coating on a colour laser cartridge.
• Buy singly rather than as a set. On a four-cartridge machine that is where the running cost advantage comes from, and yellow in particular often has months left when the cyan runs dry.
• 1,400 pages assumes 5% coverage of magenta specifically. Presentations with shaded backgrounds and full-colour graphics will consume it considerably faster.
