HP 131A Yellow Toner Laserjet (CF212A)

The HP 131A yellow toner cartridge is the genuine Original HP replacement, part number CF212A, for the HP LaserJet Pro 200 colour series. These were popular mid-size colour lasers for offices needing presentable colour without moving up to a departmental machine, and plenty are still in daily service.

Specifications

Genuine or compatible?

Genuine, Original HP, sealed box. Not a refill and not our Royal house brand, which we always sell under its own name. Colour matching is where non-genuine toner shows itself fastest on a four-cartridge machine. If one cartridge uses a slightly different pigment, greens and greys shift across every page and the cause is hard to trace back to a single cartridge. Mixing genuine and compatible cartridges in a colour laser is the most common source of colour complaints we see at the counter.

Getting the most from this cartridge

• Rock the cartridge gently before installing and keep your fingers off the drum surface underneath.
• Store spares boxed and upright, away from heat and direct sunlight. Light degrades the drum coating on a colour laser cartridge.
• At 1,800 pages the colours outlast the black, which yields 1,600. Check all four levels before ordering rather than assuming they empty together.
• 1,800 pages assumes 5% coverage of yellow specifically. Full-colour reports and charts will consume it considerably faster.

Frequently asked questions

• Is there a higher-yield version? HP offers a high-yield black, the 131X. The colours are sold as standard capacity only.
• Do I need the other cartridges too? In time yes. The set is black CF210A at 1,600 pages, plus cyan CF211A and magenta CF213A at around 1,800 pages each.
• How fast is delivery? Same day within Nairobi, next working day to most towns.
• Can I return it? Yes, sealed and unused.
• Will the printer stop if one colour runs out? On most of these models yes, even for a black-only job, so watch all four levels.
