The HP 125A black toner cartridge is the genuine Original HP replacement, part number CB540A, for the HP Color LaserJet CP1215 and CM1312 family. These colour lasers have been in Kenyan offices a long time, and at 2,200 pages the black cartridge outlasts the colours by a wide margin, which is what you would expect from mostly text printing.

Getting the most from this cartridge
- Rock the cartridge gently end to end before fitting to redistribute the toner, then remove the sealing strip fully.
- Never touch the drum surface or leave the cartridge out in bright light while installing.
- Because black is used on almost every page, it empties well before the colours. Buying black on its own rather than as part of a set is usually the cheaper approach.
- 2,200 pages assumes 5% coverage. Reports with shaded tables, logos or dark headers will fall short of that.

- Is there a higher-yield version? HP sells 125A as a standard-capacity cartridge for this series, so there is no XL equivalent in this range.
- Do I need the colours too? Yes for colour printing. HP 125A cyan, magenta and yellow are separate cartridges, each around 1,400 pages.
